The English Beat

Ready to take a trip back to the 80s with jazzy tunes and amazing vibes? What’s coming to the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa is almost a mini music festival. The English Beat will step in to headline the show after UB40 had to cancel. Friday, July 26th, is still the official date of the show. This night will be filled with nostalgia and smooth music that will put everyone in the crowd in the perfect mood.

Local heroes Common Sense will also be part of the lineup. This band is known for its reggae music inspired by the surf life. They’ve played a ton of bars over the years, and just seeing them get up on stage gives you the vibe that they’ll be tasked with bringing to the show.

Smoke & Mirrors Sound System is another group that will be taking the Costa Mesa stage. The reggae and chill vibes that will flow throughout this event will serve as a therapy session for all in attendance. As they say, “There is more that unites than divides you and I.” This entire show will be a uniting exercise.

If you want to be in the crowd to sing and vibe with these great bands, you know what you need to do. Click the get tickets button to find your spot in the theater today!

It’s certainly a shame that UB40 had to drop out almost last minute from this event. At the same time, bringing in The English Beat to headline the event was a masterful move from the organizers. You could argue that The English Beat is more similar to Common Sense and Smoke & Mirrors Sound System than UB40 is. The English Beat leans a lot more into that reggae music. When they hit the saxophone from the stage, literal chills are going to be running down your spine. Of course, by this time, you’ll already be in a perfectly happy mood, grinning from ear to ear. The music on this night may not be the only thing that’s going to put you in this mood. That’s part of the point of the event! Come out and chill with some friends; in fact, it could be one of those concerts where the old and the new generations unite.

If you were around in the 80s and 90s, and you hit up surf bars around that time, there’s a good chance that you saw Common Sense playing live locally! When they got off the stage, the DJ hit you with “Tears of a Clown” from The English Beat. Definitely, The Beat didn’t necessarily make these songs with the local surfer culture in Southern California in mind. They fit like a glove, though. Maybe it’s not that easy today to find these beachside bars that are playing this type of music. Now, you have a chance to relive the experience with “The English Beat” singing live at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa on Friday, July 26th. Generations will unite because some people will be looking to relive the glory days of some of these bands. These beats, though, are universal, and they still carry deep roots here in SoCal.

The Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa is the perfect venue for this type of show. Ideally, you’ll find a spot in the pit area next to the stage. If you want more breathing room, the stands will do just fine! Doors are at 6:30, and you’ll want to be here early on Friday because the entire event is worth a watch.
